Unfortunately, due to illness, the November & December meetings were cancelled.
Although there was an offer to present a talk, a lack of prepared material for other talks
has meant that it has not been possible to carry on with the History Group and therefore
the Group has now ceased. The ‘seed grant’ made by the Parish Council to get the Group
started has been repaid from the Group funds.

ALUMINIUM CAN RECYCLING PROJECT

The number of cans that have been crushed has been growing and a number of new
people have joined the project BUT more are required if we are to get enough cans to make
a meaningful amount of money…

We are grateful to Martin Smith, the Managing Director of Mowell & Co Ltd. of Chatteris,
who is designing and manufacturing a more robust crusher.
We now have a steady stream of cans coming in although only from a small number of
households so we need a lot more households to join the project.
As the weather warms up, it is more likely more aluminium cans will be being purchased so
there’s more opportunity for there be more to be available for recycling…
Please note: Remember to ensure that all cans are washed as unwashed cans will affect
what, if any, monies can be received.
To our younger members of the community, I ask if you can help encourage your families
to participate if they are able.
WARNING: Anyone who does crush their own cans must take great care not to hurt
themselves when doing so.
Any household willing to join, especially those that use a lot of aluminium cans, is asked to
make contact using the details below.
