St Nicolas’ Church Services

          I don’t know how you feel about Springtime, but for me it’s one of the
          highlights of the year. The bulbs poke their heads through the soil, shrubs
          blossom and the birds begin to sing. The amount of sunlight increases and
          we can put the dark days of winter behind us.
          Sometimes, we can take sunlight for granted, just because it’s there.
          However, without it, plants would struggle to grow, our electricity bills would
          be even higher and we wouldn’t have night or day. Spare a thought for some of
          those communities in the Arctic Circle who have near permanent darkness in
          midwinter! However, we do not need to live in perpetual darkness because we
          have the light of Jesus Christ.
          The Bible has a lot to say about light and darkness and uses it as an analogy
          for the difference between good and bad. God is light, and so is His Son. Our
          Christian light should shine like sunshine even on the darkest of days, a sentiment
          expressed in the words of this song.
          The Spirit lives in you and me,
          Walk, walk in the light;
          His light will shine for all to see,
          Walk, walk in the light.
