At our meeting on May 20th I was re-
elected as Chairman for 2024/25. My first
year felt like going back to school, it passed
too quickly with lots of learning and not
enough achieving so I’m grateful to my
fellow councillors for having faith in me to
      continue in the role.

I’m excited about the year ahead. Our Renewed Pit Swim
new councillors have now had time to
bed in and get to grips with the often lampposts, tree maintenance and the pit.
restrictive guidelines we have to work to. We allocated significant additional funding
For 2024/25 we have set our own budget for the pit area and work has already begun
according to the new council’s priorities, on renewing the swims (fishing platforms)
having inherited last year’s budget from around the pit, which is being led by Cllr
the outgoing council. Bartram and Cllr Payne with support from
volunteer members of the Carp Club along
As noted in the last edition the biggest with previous council members Steve
budget priorities for this year are Emery and Barrie Short. The extensive
survey of our 223 trees will begin in July to
ensure it can be completed and reviewed
in time for work to start at the end of the
nesting season which draws to a close in
                                            September. The first concrete lampposts
to be replaced are being identified with
help from FDC so that the project can be
progressed as far as possible before the
                                            nights draw in.
                                            In December Alan Mason, our
groundskeeper for the last 17 years decided
to step back from his work in Manea. I’m
sure everyone will agree that Alan did a
Tidy Cemetary wonderful job keeping our public spaces
