was deteriorating further.
Following the 2019 report the parish council began gathering in quotes to have the mats removed.
The areas were rated so they could be replaced in the correct order if the budget wasn’t available to
complete all at the same time…
As soon as the Covid 19 lockdown was announced, along with the instruction that all public play
equipment was to be closed there was an obvious window to be able to complete the work without
too much disruption. The order was placed in March but within days of the purchase order being
sent the contractors decided to temporarily suspend their operations. Fast forward 10 weeks and
the contractors returned to work. We managed to secure a start date of July 9th and within days the
Government announced that play equipment would be re-opening on the 4th.
And so, with fantastic timing as ever, after we opened the park for 5 days on the 4th July we then
fenced it off for a week and a half! The final results were definitely worth it. The park is looking
amazing and next year’s ROSPA report should be all ‘green’.
